NDSU earns R1 Research Institution Classification
NDSU is one of just three universities in the six-state upper Midwest region designated as an R1 research institution by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. Carnegie’s R1 distinction is its highest classification and is presented to only the top research institutions in the country.
“The researchers at NDSU are creating new knowledge and ideas and delivering them to our students and the citizens we serve, who are then taking them into the world and improving society,” said Bresciani. “This is the true fulfillment of the promise of our land-grant mission.”
